Looking for a fun and unique craft for all ages to enjoy? Make pom-poms! This nifty Clover notion is fun, easy and anyone can do it — all you need is scissors, yarn, and the pom-pom maker.
When I showed them to my friends, everyone immediately thought of something different to do with them — create a wreath, string them together as a scarf, use them as zipper pulls, hang them from a cafe-rod as a modern curtain, add them to your flip-flops, use them on your Halloween costume, cat toy, etc.
What thread/yarn/string will you use to make pom-poms? What will you make from them?

Invisible Thread is sometimes needed for your project, but can be tricky to work with. Here are some helpful tips when working with this unique product:
- At most, slowly wind the bobbin half-full and with less tension than normal.
- For a good stitch quality, tightening your bobbin tension may be needed.
- For using it in your needle, set your tension to the lowest setting, then gradually increase it until you get a good stitch quality.
- If your thread out of the needle is curling, the tension is too tight (and your thread will break).

Do you remember that song we sang in elementary school while jumping rope –
…First comes love,
Then comes marriage,
Then comes baby in the baby carriage.
I’m at that age where my married friends are starting to have children; the baby showers out number the wedding showers. But, finding the right gift for my friends is tricky. I want to get them something that is funny, different and personal — something that they will keep and pass down. Having been up and down the baby aisle numerous times, nothing on the market fits my idea. So, we’ve decided to make our own!
Over the next couple of weeks we’ll post baby projects and ideas. Some are inspired by items found on the market, while others are more unique. And, if you have any ideas that you’d like to share, we’d love to hear them!

Has your ruler slipped on the fabric while you’re trying to make a cut? Whether you’re in a hurry or your dog or child bumps you, its aggravating when you slip-up while cutting, ruining your fabric and edge.
To help prevent ruler slippage, apply a small dot of hot glue to the back of your acrylic rulers. Allow the glue dots to dry and then get back to cutting, slippage free! And, the little glue dots can be easily picked away, leaving your ruler like new again. Your rotary cutting has been saved!

Have you had trouble removing the crease from a hem that you have just let down? Try spraying the crease with an equal mix of white vinegar and water, then press the crease with a pressing cloth.
It that doesn’t work, try using the vinegar straight. But, before using, test it on a discrete part of the garment first to ensure that the vinegar will not stain.

When you create something how do you choose a name? Do you name it after yourself, you location, your materials, your inspiration? Do you ever think, “How did they pick that name”?
Some fabrics are named for the cities they were created in. For example, Cashmere comes from Kashmir, a region in India. This region is home to the goats where the wool comes from. And, Calico come from the city it was first obtained, Calicut, India.
Denim is brought to us from Nimes, a French city — de Nimes, “from Nimes”. Chambray is also named after a French town. Suede received its name for the French name for Sweden, Suede. Why? Because Swedish gloves were made from suede.
Muslin was made in Mosul, Iraq and damask named after the Syrian city of Damascus. Chuanchou, China, formally Laitun, was the birth place of satin — the smooth glossy fabric.
